The surgeon will discuss with you, what type of anaesthesia, that you would be comfortable with, example Lidocaine, epinephrine, saline, so that you are sure of what anaesthesia would be used during the procedure. The surgeon would then proceed with the surgery, by making 2-4 cm incisions between the cheek and the gums, this incision is made at the Maxillary Vestibule, and starts, right above the second molar and ends at the back of the mouth. The surgeon will then add pressure to the buccal fat to protrude through the incision which is made, using his or her thumb. The fat is then, teased out with the help of forceps. Once the fat is extracted, the surgeon will then close the incisions, using an non-dis-solvable type of suture. There could be a difference in procedures and techniques depending on the surgeon.
